Summary/Objective
Performs individual, group, and family counseling for families enrolled in the program. Provides testing as appropriate for license and makes appropriate referrals for services, supervises, consults with, home visiting staff, and supervisors. Will consult with home visiting staff and supervisors to coordinate plans and progress assessments. The need for counseling services is identified through the intake process and the development of the family outcome goals.
Grant Disclosure
This position is funded by a grant, employment in that position is contingent upon the continued receipt of grant funding and the appropriate allocation of such funds for the position’s purpose. A grant-funded position may be terminated upon no less than fourteen (14) days’ notice if grant funding is not received or is not available for the position for any reason.

Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Provides individual, couples, group, and family counseling relative to family and social needs, in office or home settings.
- Document needs and eligibility for counseling services.
- Provide and maintain all service documentation for all sessions to include written progress notes, informed, consent and referrals.
- Will make recommendations for therapy services, duration and frequency for families and children served in the program.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Will provide staff consultation for Home Educators to maximize family support and intervention.
- Develop and conduct group sessions based on the identified needs of families served in the program.
- Work hours should equate counseling sessions. Sessions are one (1) hour long, 45-minute counseling and 15 minutes for documentation.
- All other duties assigned by management.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Work with supervisor to plan and request supply needs, equipment needs and repairs, as well as inventory review and updating.
- Assist in Community Outreach Programs as directed.
- Promote safety in the organization for staff, visitors and clients of Easter Seals RGV through following Safety Precautions and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.
- Work with center supervisor to provide support for the Family Resource Center, when needed.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. However, occasional assignment of students and volunteers.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is a largely sedentary role; however, filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
- Light lifting – 20 to 25 pounds.
Ability to read typewritten material and computer monitor under typical office conditions. Must be able to handle multi duties/functions at one time.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. A typical day consist of 8 hours and a workweek is generally Monday through Friday. However, as a non-exempt position, it is not allowed to work more than 25 hours a day when workload requires it.
Travel
Some travel may be expected. Travel in city and some rural areas while visiting and moving between events, organizations and/or client’s homes.
Required Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Counseling or a related field.
- Supervised experience working with young children and/or parents.
- Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication skills required.
- Proven comfort level with public presentations.
- Follows instruction and good follow through abilities.
- Ability to work well with others and in a team environment.
- Bilingual capabilities desired.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must be able to successfully pass child protective services and criminal background check (initial and every 24 months).
- Must be able to successful pass a drug screen.
- Must be able to and maintain a cleared TB skin screen test.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States. H-1B sponsorship not available.
