Learning has officially broken through the classroom walls at Easterseals RGV!
Thanks to General Motors, our new outdoor classroom turns everyday play into a launchpad for early STEM discovery.
At Easterseals Child Development Center, learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. Thanks to the generous support of General Motors, children now have a vibrant new outdoor space where curiosity, discovery, and imagination come to life every day. More than just a playground, this space serves as an outdoor classroom, creating opportunities for early STEM learning through hands-on exploration. Here, children can ask questions, test ideas, solve problems, and discover how the world around them works through play. As one teacher observed, "The children don't realize they're learning math and problem-solving skills because they're having so much fun. They're counting, measuring, predicting, and working together naturally through play." One of the things I love most about this outdoor space is that the learning happens through play. The children are figuring out cause and effect, exploring concepts like weight and balance, and they're learning how their actions influence the world around them. They're moving, exploring, and discovering together, and those hands-on experiences help make learning meaningful and memorable. Every day brings new opportunities for curiosity, creativity, and growth. As they climb, balance, build, and explore, they are developing important skills that support growth and learning.
